Apple plans to launch a foldable iPhone two years from now, according to Wamsi Mohan, an analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.A fan-made foldable iPhone concept Mohan shared his prediction in a research note obtained by CNBC after spending a week in Asia meeting with companies in Apple's supply chain. He expects the foldable iPhone will launch in 2020 and said it could potentially 'double up as a tablet,' suggesting the device could expand to have an iPad-like form factor. This isn't the first time we've heard this rumor. The fixes came in an Apple Mac OS X and Adobe Flash security update on Wednesday that ComputerWorld is calling an Apple security patch record. ComputerWorld said Apple patched more than 130. ![]() Has long been a potential security risk, with Adobe engineers constantly identifying and patching vulnerabilities in a cat-and-mouse game with both hackers and the security community. This has led companies like Apple to recently take a and Mac users from running versions of Flash that are not secure. Those who have experienced Apple’s intervention have likely seen a message similar to the one in the screenshot below, informing the user that “Flash is out of date” and refusing to load the Flash-based content. Apple will block users from accessing Flash content if they are running an out of date version on their Mac. The advice for most Mac owners is to upgrade to the latest version of Flash as Apple urges. The company’s motive for blocking insecure versions of Flash isn’t just some petty remnant of the from a few years ago; many of the vulnerabilities found in Flash pose real threats to average OS X users. But not all users want, or are able, to upgrade to the latest version of Flash. If you need to run an older version of Flash in OS X for tasks like testing, application compatibility, or troubleshooting, you’ll need to circumvent Apple’s block. Here’s how to do it in Safari for OS X Yosemite. Take Apple’s warnings seriously and only proceed If you understand and accept the risks involved in running out of date versions of Flash First, note that these steps only apply to users who already have a version of Flash installed — Apple as part of the default OS X installation back in 2010. Once you’ve confirmed that your Mac is running Flash, launch Safari and head to Safari > Preferences > Security in the OS X menu bar. Find the section labeled Internet plug-ins and click the corresponding Website Settings button. This window allows you to configure advanced settings for a number of plug-ins, and your list will differ from the one in our screenshot based on the type and number of plugins installed on your Mac. But if you have Adobe Flash Player installed, you’ll see it listed on the left side of the window. Click on it to bring up its configuration options on the right side of the window. If your version of Flash is out of date and being blocked by Apple, you’ll see a yellow caution triangle with a warning informing you that “The version of ‘Adobe Flash Player’ on your computer has known critical security issues.” Again, take this warning seriously and only proceed with the steps here if you understand and accept the risks involved with running potentially insecure software that could compromise your Mac and its data. Users can manually circumvent Apple’s block and enable Flash for all websites. If you accept those risks and want to stop Apple from blocking Flash, then let’s move on. On the right side of the plug-in settings window, you’ll see a list of your currently open websites at the top and a universal setting for “other websites” at the bottom. Sql view columns of a table. You now have two choices: you can enable an out-of-date version of Flash for all websites, or you can force it to run on only a small number of websites that you specifically identify. To stop Apple from blocking out of date versions of Flash for all websites, use the bottom drop-down menu for “other websites” and set it to Allow Always. You might think that the default “Allow” setting is enough, but that only allows Flash to run if the version installed on your Mac is up-to-date and has no known security vulnerabilities. Setting it to Allow Always overrides Apple’s block and forces Flash to run on compatible websites. But, remember, it may also expose you to dangerous security vulnerabilities.
More recent versions display the image in Step 2 of this tutorial. Start the Quicken File Archive Process If you're using an older Quicken version: • In Quicken, click on File on the upper left, then File Operations • Click on Year-End Copy • Select Archive and click OK If you're using a newer Quicken version, you will see the Create a Year End Copy window with two options: • Select this to archive your data while keeping all transactions in your data file: Current Data file, select Do Nothing. My current data file will remain unchanged. • Select this option with a date to remove older transactions from your data file at the same time you archive: I only want transactions in my current data file starting with this date. In the future, you can access transactions that have been cut from your data file by opening the archive file. Older Quicken Versions: Quicken assigns a name to the archive file by putting the last two digits of the year at the end of the file name. I am using Quicken 2011 Deluxe. I would like to retrieve some transactions from a checking account of an older Quicken 2011 file, and put them into my current 2011 file (the same checking account). Original review: Nov. I have been a Quicken user since 1986, (32 years now) and it was originally a pretty good, pretty well-supported product. Newer Versions: Quicken adds BKP to the file name. You can change the file name and location no matter what year your version of Quicken is. Naming a Quicken archive file: • Data file names begin with a slash and end with.QDF. Enter a new file name directly between the slash and.QDF. • These characters can't be used in file names: *?| ': /. • Just as most people accept Quicken's default file name, most simply accept the file location as well. You can change the location by clicking on Browse next to the file name, then navigating your computer's file structure to the location that you want the archive saved in. If you want to save the archive on a CD, USB or other external media source, choose the drive letter after you click Browse. To save the archive file to an online backup service, choose the file folder and/or drive letter your service uses. If you can't figure this out, just save the archive file to your desktop, then move it to the backup service folder or application. • Quicken attachments will be archived only if there is enough space available on your computer. Screen Shot Created by Shelley Elmblad If you have a newer version of Quicken and you selected the 'Do nothing' option discussed in Step 1, follow these instructions. If you selected the other option, skip to the next step. ![]() If you are using an earlier version of Quicken, follow these instructions: • Either accept Quicken's archive date for 'archive data up to and including' or change the date to archive transactions occurring before and on a date you specify. • You can click in the date box and type in a new date. • Or, click on the calendar symbol to the right of the date box, then use the arrows on either side of the month to navigate forward and back through the calendar. When you get to the month you want, just click on the day of the month to fill in the date. PeopleImages/Getty Images Click on OK and the archive file will save. When Quicken finishes saving the file, you will be asked if you want to use the current file or the archive file. You will probably want to continue using the current file, but it's a good idea to select the archive file so you can click around to ensure that your data has been saved according to the choices you made through the archive procedure. [ Editor’s note: This is a review of the final, shipping version of Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac. The software was provided to Macworld by Microsoft in advance of the suite’s general release.] is a new e-mail client and personal information manager from Microsoft, not just an upgrade to its predecessor, ( ). Outlook 2011 has some features that Entourage had, but if you approach Outlook 2011 expecting it to be an upgraded Entourge, you’re going to be frustrated. As someone who is, by any measure of the term, an Entourage power user, I found that once I stopped thinking about Outlook as “Entourage 2011,” my experience with the new software quickly became much easier. Version 1.0 Outlook 2011’s Mailing List Manager, Scheduling Manager, and Rules implementation are mostly unchanged from Entourage. Hi, I've got some Mac OSX machines running the new Office for Mac 2011 including Outlook. And there's a problem with Outlook with one of them: Outlook refuses to send (or forward) certain mails. Outlook 2011 for Mac > insufficient memory!? Keeping a desk How to sync google calendar with outlook 2011 for mac upon your office desk is part of the corporate culture. Many people have them in their homes too! Its a good accessory to have. If you would later than to own a desk calendar which has got a design of your choosing, we recommend you to pick any one of forgive printable Desk directory Templates we have compiled here. Otherwise, Outlook 2011 is all new. Anyone used to modern versions of Outlook on the PC, or for anyone on a Mac who needs to talk to Exchange, will find that Outlook 2011 will be kinder to you than Entourage ever was—as long as you're using Exchange Server 2007 or later. Outlook 2011 does not support the older HTTP-DAV connection method that Entourage used. Outlook 2011 is a Cocoa application; it doesn’t have a legacy of over 20-plus years on the Mac and doesn’t have the kind of code base that the other Office programs have. Likewise, you may want to adjust your column widths to make them more consistent. Word for mac - make all columns of a table equal size. There's a quick way to do this. As you enter data into cells in your Excel worksheet, you may notice that your rows change height - which can lead to a sloppy presentation if you're sharing the data. Moving forward, the Outlook development team will have an easier time than the other Office development teams with operating system compatibility. Unlike the rest of the Office 2011 suite, Outlook 2011 supports Mac OS Services (so did Entourage), and you get some of the basic niceties that Cocoa has. Though I did no benchmark testing, Outlook 2011 feels faster than Entourage. Outlook 2011 launches minutes faster for me on the first launch of the day after a shutdown. Some of the user interface (UI) lags in Entourage while checking mail or doing other tasks never appeared or were far less annoying than in Entourage. Cocoa magic aside, drag and drop in Carbon applications always works more intuitively. As a result, Outlook 2011 takes a step back when it comes to drag and drop. You don’t have to do the click-and-hold delay when dragging text, and dragging an attachment into a background Entourage mail window is a far simpler experience than doing so with Outlook 2011, where I had to bring the message window to the foreground and then drag the file from a Finder window in the background to the message window. I’ve seen the same behavior in other Cocoa applications—Cocoa just doesn’t do drag and drop as well as Carbon. I tested Outlook 2011 in the same configuration that I use Entourage on a daily basis: six IMAP accounts total, with three accounts using SSL for both send and receive, two Gmail accounts, and one Exchange 2007 Exchange Web Services (EWS) account. ![]() Back-end servers run the gamut from MobileMe, Kerio, and Communigate Pro to Exchange 2007. I have over 70 IMAP rules, a handful of SMTP and Exchange rules, and too many Mailing List Manager rules to count. I also have an Exchange Calendar with gobs of public folders (I live by my to-do lists), and I have three separate Directory Service accounts that I use as part of my work. The database Entourage's database was a big file that changed constantly, which made for painful backups. The big news in Outlook 2011 is that there is a new way of dealing with Outlook items, and each item is stored as an individual file or files—however, there’s still a database. Database: Outlook 2011 still uses a database, but Microsoft re-engineered the program so that the database isn't essential to storing data. According to the Outlook development team, the database is there purely to optimize search and other non-essential routines. May 18, 2016 Hi there! I have a problem, and I would be very grateful if anyone could help me solve it. When I record a sound or video recording on QuickTime, Voiceover can be heard in the recording. When I listen to the recording, I can hear Voiceover and my own voice simultaneously. The problem is the same with Skype. Now, it won't let me get rid of the denial. I've quit QT, quit & reopened it twice and it still won't let me choose ANY input source. It still says it doesn't have access to the microphone. Is this a new Mojave 10.14.2 bug or what? How the heck do I get out of this? 3 Tips for QuickTime playlist you have to know QuickTime is a universal media player that does everything beautifully well except creating playlists. It is somewhat of a bummer to realize that even though QuickTime is a sophisticated application, it can’t support something as simple as creating playlists. That is the reason why most folks turn to iTunes if they want to create playlists for their movies. There is one alternative though, and that is using Playlist Lite, which is a free app for Mac that allows for the creation of playlists that can be used by both QuickTime and iTunes. Since it is the ‘Lite’ version of the app, as the name clearly suggests, it only allows adding a maximum of 10 items in the playlist. Nonetheless, a great option for anyone who wants a playlist on their QuickTime player. Let us take a look at this app now and see how to use it. Step 1: to download and install the app Playlist Lite on to your computer. Step 2: After you have successfully installed the app, launch it. You would see that the interface of the app has 2 panels; 1st panel resembles the player control area with buttons similar to the ones you would find on iTunes. You will also find subtle differences such as the positioning of the loop and shuffle buttons which are given at the bottom of the app, unlike on the iTunes. The 2nd panel offers two collapsible lists - ‘Playlist’ that will contain the playlist you would create for QuickTime, and ‘iTunes’ that contains the playlists for iTunes. Step 3: You will also see that at the bottom, there are 4 distinct buttons. In order to add items to an existing playlist or creating a new one, you have to choose the button that looks like a plus sign. Step 4: After you have clicked on the plus sign, you can either go to Playlists > Add Playlist to create a new playlist or simply select and existing playlist and then choose the option of ‘Add Files’ to add to it. Just remember that no matter what option you choose, you would only be able to add 10 items to the list at the most. Step 1: Launch QuickTime from your programs menu. Step 2: Now, go to the File > Export from the menu bar given on the top of the screen. Step 3: This should now open a new popup window for you. From the drop down menu for Export, select the option of ‘Movie to QuickTime Media Link’ and then click on the button ‘Options’ which is right next to it. Step 4: As soon as you click on the ‘Options’ button, it will open the QuickTime Media Link Settings dialogue for you (see the screenshot as given below). Step 5: You will see that the loaded movie is already reflecting on the movie URL path. Now, add an item key in the path of the clip using the ‘QT Next URL’ field and then click OK. Step 6: You will now see that the clips will play in succession. In order to create a loop for your playlist on QuickTime, you simply have to follow these steps. Step 1: Launch QuickTime, from the Start button (Windows) or Finder (Mac) and then go to File > Open to open the video you would like to watch. Step 2: Now, select the option ‘View’ from the menu bar on top of the QuickTime player window and click on ‘Loop’. Step 3: That’s it, you have already done what you had to. Now, simply go ahead and play the clip or video and it will play in a loop i.e. Continuously for you. QuickTime: Apple official download Mac OS X includes QuickTime Player (Version 10.x) which will handle most of your media playback needs. You will only need to install QuickTime if you have an older version of the Mac operating system which does not come with QuickTime already installed, you want to work with older media types, or if you have legacy workflows that are not supported by the newer QuickTime application. You can download QuickTime for Mac. QuickTime: Download it from other websites (free) SOFTONIC: This website also provides ratings for QuickTime, the number of downloads this month and full details of the file size and its pros and cons. When I copy Chinese text into a Word document, Word for some reason assigns it a Japanese font (MS 明朝). When I try to switch between English and Chinese input methods (command + space), the system constantly defaults to Japanese input. [ Editor's note: This is a review of the final, shipping version of Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, provided to Macworld by Microsoft in advance of the suite's general release.] For as long as I’ve been reviewing Microsoft Word, it has been difficult to see any kind of relationship between Word for Mac and Word for Windows, beyond the name and file format. Word for mac - make all columns of a table equal size. They were essentially two completely different products designed for what, in Microsoft’s mind, were two completely different sets of users. Changes all that. The Intel-only Word 2011 is a significant and substantive update to Microsoft’s flagship Mac word processing and page-layout application. It is an update that unifies a user’s experience across platforms, and it’s also a release that contains many valuable new features and improvements—more than 30 in all. The bottom line is this: Microsoft Word for Mac no longer feels like a second-string word processing program in the Microsoft Office suite. ![]() ![]() It is in fact a powerful tool for creating all your personal and business documents and for collaborating with others. More importantly, Word 2011 now makes it possible to insert a Mac into nearly any business environment and offer Mac users the same set of features found in Word for Windows, without compromise. Look and feel Word 2011 has the same look and feel as Word for Windows, but is in many ways more refined and better organized than its Windows sibling. ( ) used the combination of a nearly useless Elements Gallery that appeared at the top of every document and a floating Toolbox to provide you with formatting tools for your document. Word 2011 has the Ribbon, an intelligent, customizable toolbar that provides you with a set of formatting tools suited to your current task. Working on a word processing document? The Ribbon displays a set of text formatting tools. Adding a table or a chart? You’ll find a complete set of tools for editing and formatting the same. Inserting an image into a document? The Ribbon contains everything you need to resize, color correct, wrap text around, or otherwise format that image. If you'd rather not use the Ribbon, you can hide it. While initially the Ribbon may seem daunting to master, in practice I found that I wasn’t wasting time looking for the tools I needed to get my work done. And because you’re able to hide the Ribbon, you can get it out of the way when all you want to work with are words. King of the Word: Word’s new UI unifies the interface between Mac and Windows versions and offers Spotlight-like find and replace tools. Enterprise-level tools Word 2011 has significantly improved collaboration tools, making it obvious that Microsoft now considers Word for Mac, and thereby the Mac itself, to be an enterprise-level work tool. Word 2011 includes support for Microsoft,, simultaneous document editing, the option to communicate with others while you edit documents together, and improves the control you have over the kinds of rights users have to review and edit documents. This security feature requires that you use Microsoft’s Information Rights Management (IRM) tools, which also means that you’ll need a volume license edition of Office 2011 and a Microsoft Rights Management server, but the upside is that you’ll have much finer control over what other users can do with the documents you create. |
